Gears & Sprockets

Spur gears and sprockets from a spec.

Generate involute spur gears, sprockets and pulleys from module/teeth or chain/belt specs — as STEP for machining or STL for printing.

Gear geometry is unforgiving and slow to draw by hand. Give AiCadGen the spec — module and tooth count, pressure angle, bore and keyway, or a chain/belt standard — and it generates a correct involute gear, sprocket or timing pulley. Export STEP for cutting metal or STL for a printed prototype.

Why use AiCadGen for this

  • Correct involute tooth profiles from module + teeth + pressure angle.
  • Bores, keyways, hubs and set-screw flats added from your description.
  • Standard sprockets (ANSI roller chain) and timing pulleys (GT2, HTD) by name.
Example prompts
  • $Spur gear, module 1.5, 24 teeth, 20° pressure angle, 8mm bore with keyway
  • $GT2 timing pulley, 20 teeth, 5mm bore, 6mm belt width
  • $ANSI #25 sprocket, 15 teeth, 6mm bore, set-screw hub
  • $Two-stage gear pair, 18T and 36T, module 1, 5mm bores

Frequently asked questions

Are the tooth profiles true involutes?

Yes — gears are generated with involute tooth flanks from the module, tooth count and pressure angle you specify, so they mesh correctly.

Can I add a keyway and set screw?

Yes. Specify bore diameter, keyway size and a set-screw flat or tapped hole and they are included in the model.
